Methodology, data sources and corrections
Exactly where each number on ClearIPO comes from, how often it refreshes, and what we do when it is missing or wrong.
The collection cycle
- 1. Automated sync. A scheduled job calls our IPO data provider at five past every hour and writes the response to our database. Nothing is typed in by hand.
- 2. Normalisation. Each record is mapped to a fixed schema: dates to ISO form, money to rupees, price bands split into low and high, board classified as Mainboard or SME.
- 3. Validation. Fields that arrive empty, zeroed or unparseable are discarded rather than displayed. This is why you will see “Not reported” instead of a placeholder.
- 4. Publication. Pages render from the last successful sync, and the homepage shows the timestamp of that sync in IST.
Field-by-field sourcing
| Field | Source | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Offer dates (open, close, listing) | Exchange and registrar disclosures via our IPO data feed | Official once filed; dates can be revised by the issuer |
| Price band and face value | Red herring prospectus as carried in the feed | Official |
| Lot size and minimum investment | Prospectus; minimum investment is lot size × upper band | Official (minimum investment is a direct calculation) |
| Issue size | Prospectus, in ₹ crore | Official; may change with the final issue price |
| Subscription (overall and by category) | Exchange bidding data during the offer window | Official, intraday figures move until close |
| Grey market premium (GMP) | Unofficial dealer-quoted market | Unofficial, not regulated, not a listing-price forecast |
| Allotment and listing status | Registrar and exchange notices | Official |
How we treat grey market premium
GMP is a price quoted in an unofficial market that operates outside SEBI regulation and outside the exchanges. It is thin, easy to move, and frequently changes direction in the final days of an offer. We publish it because readers search for it, always with its percentage against the upper price band so the number has context, and never as a prediction of the listing price. A high GMP is not an allotment, a guarantee, or a reason to apply.
Corrections policy
If a figure on ClearIPO disagrees with the prospectus, the registrar or the exchange, the official document wins. Email the page link and the correct value to corrections@clearipo.com. Feed-level errors are fixed at the source and clear on the next hourly sync; anything we hold ourselves is corrected directly.
Known limitations
- Subscription figures during an open issue lag live exchange bidding.
- Market prices in the desktop ticker are delayed, not real-time quotes.
- We do not host prospectus PDFs; use the exchange or registrar for source documents.
- Withdrawn or deferred issues may remain listed until the feed removes them.
